We all have seen those big tire scrap yards which pile up around our big cities. I remember well those from St-Amable in the outskirts of Montreal suburbs. I even remember when fire broke in one of them and it lasted for weeks before it could be stopped.
This inventor says that he can produce diesel petrol out of tires by using a small mount of micro-wave.
http://www.thedailygreen.com/environmental-news/latest/microwave-alternative-fuel-47120305 If what he says is true and works, then I think that we have found another way to recycle those annoying tires which were sometimes only reused in road construction. The main breakthrough is maybe we could use the microwaves to remove the thermoplastics around various an object of important value like, in tires, the metal or Kevlar belts.
We all know that China and India are going to take all available metal in very short period of time so we better rool up our sleeves and find ideas like that so we can fetch metal wherever you can find it. Now it depends, how efficient is the system going to be for large amount of tires. Anyway, we can foresee that it can provide part of its fuel.
