Control : PID tuning

Dear all,

Recipes for designing controllers with Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) elements have made it easy to tune control systems. Sometimes, the recipes don't work as expected. When this occurs, the designer often searches for reasons and would like to have a better foundation for understanding the system.

Here is a white paper which shows some techniques for evaluating PID designs with SimApp and ways to improve on them. There are SimApp models to try and a spreadsheet to help you design the controller.

There is also the Broida PID tuning approach which is very good but I only have data in french since I have tought it in at Nancy 1 Univesity in France. LHR
