Things to do when driving to save fuel.
Petrol is not cheap anymore I can only propose you to lose those bad habits.
Save yourself between 5% and 10% plus by doing one or all of the following:
1) Avoid heavy braking or fast accelerating
2) Don't over rev when starting up
3) Minimise the weight you're carrying
4) Stuck in traffic? Turn your engine off like many do in Germany
5) Check your tyre pressure ( and balance)
6) Avoid braking wherever possible, use engine braking
7) Replace your air filter ( or get someone else to do so)
8) Keep speed steady on the highway/freeway/motorway
9) Don't use 'Cruise' control
10) Car Pool?
11) Do not use your motor in the RPMs which mean low torque. This means that you should not under rev the engine as too many do.
12) Switch to turbo-diesel cars
13) Use streets and roads which have their trafic lights synchronized and respect their setting speeds.
14) Switch to two wheel drive when you drive on normal roads.
15) Avoid automatic transmissions
16) Avoid using air conditionning
The best way is still to drive slowlier by 5 to 10 km/h. If everybody does it, this will save a lot and prices will go down.
Pollution and green house gazes which are serious troublemakers are going to be diminished as well. Do it for your kids, please, if you want them a future.
