[Reliable Computing] SWIM09 : the second edition of the Small Workshop on Interval Methods, Lausanne, June 2

Dear colleagues,

Since about nine years, we have an active french working group named MEA (Méthodes ensemblistes pour l'automatique).
The aim of this group if to promote interval analysis, constraint propagation and other set methods to apply them in estimation, robotics, control and other engineering areas.

Four times a year, we have a scientific meeting and we make our slides available on our website http://www.lirmm.fr/ensemble
Although our site is in French, most of the slides for the talks are in English.

Last year we aimed at opening ourselves to the international interval community by organizing a two-days informal and free workshop, SWIM 2008 (Small Workshop on Interval Methods: http://www.ensieta.fr/jaulin/swim08.html).  Twenty one speakers from several countries (Poland, Brazil, Bulgaria, Spain, Canada, Switzerland, Pakistan and France) attended SWIM'08, where they discussed their most recent ideas and developments and thought together about the most promising new directions.

The SWIM'09 workshop is intended to build on the success of the first edition. Its goal is to provide a forum to review and discuss the state-of-the-art in the area of interval methods, and to foster cross-fertilization between different approaches.

SWIM'09 will be held at EPFL, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, on June 10-11, 2009.
