Dear all,
Sebastien Loeb is now on its way to win his 6th world rallye title if he wins it in Great Bitain this week-end.
Firstly, this means a sith title in a row for his team.
This makes Citroen one of the most succesful car makers of all times on rallyes ahead of Audi, Lancia, Ford and of course Subaru. Its without mentionning their wins with the Citroen ZX in not so distant past which threw Peugoet to the second level.
I usually stay close to the rallye outcomes since these cars are the closest to the production cars that we buy. It is not the case with F1 or LeMans races which feature unrealistic vehicles. Hence, the winners are showing their capacity to build performant and endurant cars. Maybe Citroen should be considered as the best car manufacturer.
The C4 follows the Xantia which was based on the ZX, also the Peugeot 306. These cars have very good features like independant suspensions and passive steering of the back wheels. This allows these cars to corner in the curves like no others. I have tried several Citroen ZX, this is just incredible. Any Toyota Celica could not follow a ZX in alpine roads.
This also means that Ford Focus, Peugoet 206 and Subaru Impreza always showing at the top rankings are rallye-designed cars.
